Solution for unstable pallets during transport or storage

Technical review of stretch film, edge protectors and strapping to improve pallet stability in warehousing, transport and dispatch.

Unstable pallets - Logipack Logipack

Operational issue

What should be reviewed

An unstable pallet is usually caused by a mix of irregular load shape, weak lateral containment, unprotected edges or film applied with unsuitable tension.

Before changing material, review weight, height, goods type, film turns, prestretch, friction points and the real logistics route.

Technical analysis

Context before choosing material.

Why a palletized load moves

Stability is not solved by adding more wrap alone. A pallet with uneven heights, internal gaps or weak cartons can deform even with a good film.

Handling method, transport vibration, humidity, friction between layers and the need for visibility or ventilation also matter.

What to review before recommending material

Identify whether the issue appears during wrapping, storage, forklift handling, transport or customer reception.

That helps decide whether the correction should come from film, wrapping force, edge protectors, strapping, wrapping pattern or load preparation.

Avoid changing blindly

The alternative should be tested with a real load and the usual route. A static sample may not behave the same in dispatch.

A technical recommendation should start from current consumption, roll format, approximate weight, pallet height and the specific failure.

Signs the problem is not only the film

If the load always tilts in the same area, cartons crush, layers have gaps or edges are marked, the film may be compensating for a preparation issue.

In those cases, review edge protectors, strapping, stacking pattern and weight distribution before increasing gauge or turns.

What a technical trial should check

A useful test compares stability during movement, consumption per pallet, applied tension, breaks during wrapping and behavior after transport.

It should also confirm that the operator or machine can repeat the result without adding slow or hard-to-control steps.

Recommended products

Logipack families that may fit.

Stretch film matched to the load

Manual or automatic film can adjust gauge, width, color and prestretch to improve pallet containment.

Edge protectors and strapping for critical points

When edges are delicate or pressure is localized, edge protectors and strapping can stabilize without damaging goods.

Technical considerations

Useful data before requesting an alternative.

  • Measure current consumption per pallet, applied turns and wrapping force before comparing alternatives.
  • Validate prestretch, applied tension and whether the operation is manual, automatic or mixed.
  • Review edges, internal gaps, height differences and need for edge protectors on mixed pallets.
  • Check transport vibration, friction and whether the load needs ventilation, visibility or dust protection.

How we work

From the problem to the format that fits your operation.

Logipack reviews the application, current material, load, volume and use conditions before proposing an alternative. The goal is to adapt packaging to the operation, not replace one product with another without context.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Do more film turns always solve instability?

Not necessarily. It may be better to adjust prestretch, gauge, film type or edge protection before increasing consumption.

When should edge protectors be used?

When strapping or film presses on edges, when cartons are delicate or when the pallet needs more vertical rigidity.

Can you review manual and automatic operations?

Yes. The key data are application method, roll format, load, approximate consumption and the specific problem.

Does strapping replace film on unstable pallets?

Not always. Strapping can add vertical or point restraint, but film remains important for lateral containment and surface protection.

What minimum data should I send?

Goods type, approximate weight, pallet height, current film, turns applied, whether a machine is used and where the load moves.

Technical packaging review

Describe the load, route and how the pallet moves.

With those details we can review wrapping force, prestretch, edge protectors and strapping without promising unvalidated results.
